Summer Animation Workshops
Join us this summer to learn animation in person! We offer 4-day sessions (Monday through Thursday) as consecutive blocks.

Summer students should be sure to pack a lunch. All supplies and equipment usage included. Each student’s animation will be showcased on the Animatus website. DVDs are available for an additional $10.
WHEN: For our Summer Animation Camp, students attend for FOUR CONSECUTIVE DAYS, from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM, with a break for bag lunch. See our Schedule for exact dates.
PRICE: $324 per week. Note, for returning students (Intermediate and Studio), we can accomodate single day attendance at a rate of $90 per day.

The Animation Workshop at Animatus Studio
Here’s an overview of what gets covered in the three skill tracks at our workshops. Finished with Basic? Come back for Intermediate, then Studio!
Basic Students
Here’s what first time students can expect…
Day 1…. TRADITIONAL ANIMATION:
- Basic animation principles: zoetropes, morphing, and character design.
Day 2…. CLAY ANIMATION:
- How to move and morph clay under the camera for expressive animation.
Day 3…. CUT-OUT ANIMATION:
- How to design, time, and shoot cut-out animation.
Day 4…. TRADITIONAL ANIMATION II:
- New challenges in animation techniques: in-betweening and using motion maps.
Intermediate Students
Returning students will learn more advanced animation techniques like run cycles, storyboarding, anticipation, squash and stretch, and more.
Studio Students
Make your own color cartoons! Use computers to scan and color your artwork. Add lip sync and sound effects with in editing. Move towards more polished cartoons!
What about Safety?
All instructors are vaccinated against Covid-19, and we encourage students to be vaccinated if possible. We please request that unvaccinated students wear masks.
